Ohio Family Counseling Services offers a number of group programs recognized by the Court system. These programs are Diversion Programs that permit the individual to obtain information about themselves and their behavior that has led them to have legal difficulties. Below is listed the names of the programs and a more complete description of each along with the schedule of their offerings is below.
D.O.V.E. Program is a 25 hour Domestic Violence Education and Intervention Program offered on 6 consecutive Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Classes are preceded by a mandatory initial evaluation scheduled Monday through Friday.
D.V.A.C. Program is a 25 hour Domestic Violence and Aggression Control Program offered on 4 consecutive Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Classes are preceded by a mandatory initial evaluation scheduled Monday through Friday.
A.M.A.C. Program is an Anger Management and Aggression Control Program for violent offenders (non-domestic violence cases). This program focuses on inappropriate anger expression and preventing the use of aggression/violence. Clients have the option of attending three-3 hour classes on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., or Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Classes are preceded by a mandatory initial evaluation scheduled Monday through Friday.
A. D. E. P. is an Alcohol & Drug Education Program. This course is a one-day intensive workshop designed to educate first- time offenders who do not require outpatient treatment. Topics include: Physical Effects, Consequences and Stages of Substance Abuse, Defenses & Denial Systems, Disease Concept of Alcoholism, Family Effects of Alcoholism & Solutions. An evaluation is not part of this education program. The workshop is held monthly on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
G.P.P. is a Group Parenting Program consisting of two, 2-hour group sessions held on Fridays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. An initial evaluation is not part of this program.
P.E.I.P. is designed to educate individuals on appropriate parenting techniques. The program is offered on an individual basis or with both parents as needed. The curriculum includes six 1-hour individual sessions preceded by a mandatory initial evaluation.
S. T. I. P. is a Shoplifting & Theft Intervention Program. This course is a one-day intensive workshop designed to educate and intervene with shoplifters, kleptomaniacs and other theft behaviors. The workshop, is offered in small groups or on an individual basis, and consists of one two and one-half hour session.
S.A.S.P. is a Sexual Addiction and Solicitation Education and Intervention Program. This program is designed for individuals with a sexual addiction, or other inappropriate sexual behavior. It is based on an addiction model. This intensive program consists of two 2-hour sessions and is offered individually. Classes are preceded by a mandatory initial evaluation scheduled Monday through Friday.
Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity is a course examining racism, ageism, and increasing cultural awareness. This program-based course is available for court ordered and self-referral individuals.
Most programs require an individual evaluation prior to the start of the program. Participation in all programs is by appointment only. Drop-ins are not permitted. Please call 440-779-9565 to make an appointment.
